Help line for the self-employed economically affected by the coronavirus
The Department of Work, Social Affairs and Families has launched aid, in the form of an economic benefit, of up to 2,000 euros for self-employed persons -natural person-, who prove a drastic and involuntary reduction in their turnover as a result of the effects of the coronavirus on their economic activity, and provided they are registered in activities for which the health authorities have decreed the closure and do not have other alternative sources of income.
This aid has a budget of 7.5 million euros and is expected to benefit some 4,500 self-employed people.
To access this aid, self-employed persons – natural person – must be registered in the special scheme for self-employed workers of the Social Security (RETA), and with tax domicile in Catalonia.
Access to aid is achieved through the accreditation of economic losses in the month of March 2020 compared to the same month of March 2019. In the case of self-employed persons with a seniority of the RETA less than one year, the comparison It will be done with the average of the monthly billing since the registration in the RETA.
The Department will grant this aid through the competitive concurrence procedure until the budget item allocated is exhausted, and it will be incompatible with any other aid intended for the same purpose.
The Government of the Generalitat, through the Department of Labor, Social Affairs and Families, has made this decision as an urgent response to the people who make up the Autonomous Work of Catalonia in the face of this exceptional situation, which has forced different government authorities to act in the confinement and isolation of people and activities. This fact has a direct impact, with foreseeable economic losses, in the provision of the service of self-employed persons, either due to lack of possibility of personal professional provision or due to the closure of the space where the professional activity is carried out.
