Two Five Gloves reaches 74,000 euros in 2020 and aims to double sales in 2021
The soccer glove company founded by lawyer and goalkeeper Joan Compte has increased its sales in just a year and a half since its creation.
Two Five Gloves continues its development despite the stoppage of football due to the pandemic. The company has carved out a niche for itself in the goalkeeper glove sector, billing 74,000 euros in the 2020 financial year and gaining visibility by sponsoring two professional goalkeepers : Edgar Badia (Elche CF) and Tomeu Nadal (Albacete SAD). In 2021 it plans to double its sales.
As explained by Joan Compte, administrator and founder of the company, in statements to Palco23, the company has grown in 2020 despite the pandemic due to the early sale of the 2021 collection : between May and June 2020, with the lack of confidence and the subsequent return of football, the company sold a total of 2,800 pairs of gloves, 1,600 pairs more than in 2019.
For now, the company does its sales directly, often over the phone, to contacts of the founders, or through its website.
A key to 2020 has been e-commerce, which has gone from 1% of total turnover in 2019 to 15% in the last year , accentuating the number of sales through the screen in the last quarter of the year.
Currently, 80% of Two Five Gloves sales are produced in Spain, but the company also markets its products in countries such as the United States, Canada, England, Russia, Switzerland, France or Bosnia. Likewise, Compte talks about reaching new markets in 2021 such as Brazil or China.
After the growth that the company has been experiencing, Joan Compte decided to rent premises in Premià de Dalt (Barcelona) to be able to distribute the product, which was joined a few months ago by sweatshirts and leg warmers. In addition to being a logistics center, the premises serve as a showroom and store. “ If the business continues like this, I would like to have a showroom in Barcelona and offices in the outskirts of the Catalan capital in four years ”, says the businessman.
The Covid-19 has also taken its toll on the company, which has seen the cost of shipments from where the product is produced, Pakistan, increase by 15% . “The forecasts for 2021 will depend on how the pandemic develops, if the same path is followed, we should invoice 150,000 euros in 2021; although I see more likely that it will be an impasse towards 2022, ”adds Compte.
Two Five Gloves was incorporated in the first quarter of 2019. The initial capital to start the company was 12,000 euros, distributed equally by the three partners of the company, Compte and the goalkeepers Badia and Nadal, who did not enter actively in the entity until July 2020.
